Wisconsin's Own "Tommy T" Assumes National Leadership Role
Posted at 01:44 PM on Friday, August 21, 2009 by Wisconsin VFW News in Convention News
Wisconsin’s own Tommy T. Tradewell has attained the highest office in the Veterans of Foreign Wars: National Commander-in-Chief.
Tommy was sworn in on the last day of our National Convention in Phoenix, AZ, with the honors performed by his good friend and respected Past National Commander-in-Chief Walter “Wally “ Hogan. Tradewell and Hogan are both members of Gross-Yaksh Post 6498 in Milwaukee. Wally has been with Tommy throughout the long and arduous process of campaigning throughout the nation for this high office. Tradewell was elected to Jr Vice Commander at the 108th VFW Convention in Kansas City. Since that time, he has traveled extensively across the globe, bringing the VFW message to allies and members alike.
After the installation, Commander-in-Chief Tradewell delivered an inspiring message to a large audience of Comrades at the Phoenix Convention Center.
Tommy’s “Homecoming Celebration” will take place in Milwaukee starting on the 10th of September. Homecoming events will be held at the Wyndham Airport Hotel & Convention Center. Reservations are still being taken. Ed and Carla Stockell are chairs of that event, and Wisconsin VFW Members are encouraged to attend.

2008-09 Wisconsin State VFW Commander, Gary Erickson, receives his All-American Cap from National Sr Vice Commander-in-Chief Tommy “T” Tradewell at ceremonies at the 110th VFW National Convention in Phoenix. Tradewell was
State Commander during Erickson’s first term as 3rd District Commander. “What an honor it was to have this award presented by Tommy T”, Erickson said. “I am proud to wear this cap, but I want all the officers and members of the Wisconsin VFW that this is, truly, THEIR award. We won this only through the hard work and tremendous efforts of our members. It is much more their honor than mine. I was proud to lead them as Commander.”
