LADIES AUXILIARY
GERMANTOWN MEMORIAL POST #9202
APRIL 2008 NEWSLETTER
Greeting Sisters:
The robins are here again, so it must be spring! It’s great to hear our feathered friends chirp once again.
Our March 31st meeting was attended by 7 Sisters. Pertinent General Orders #4 from National were read. Emphasis is being placed on the annual District Convention to elect Officers. Our District Meeting is May 4th in Waubeka. It was also mentioned that the Auxiliary Members should work with the Post when requested to do so. Otherwise each group is to be independent of each other and this is being done. The quarterly audits were completed by our treasurer Ellain with the required minimum of 2 in attendance. Our Post and District are in compliance with the National By-Laws.
For new business “Buddy Poppy” weekends was brought up. On May 9 thru 11 we will be at the Germantown Wal-Mart. On May 16 thru 18 we will be set up at the Clark Gas Station, Speedway, Pick N’ Save, and Fleet Farm in Germantown. We will also be at the Piggly Wiggly store in Hubertus. Speaking of the weekend of May 17th and 18th did you know that April 17 is Armed Forces Day? This fund is used strictly to help veterans and their family members. We have 2,000 poppies to distribute this year so all the help we can get will be greatly appreciated.
Nominations for the 2008/2009 officers are as follows:
· Mary Brown – President
· Jeanette Ewert – Sr. Vice President
· Carol Rieder – Jr. Vice President
· Ellain Puls – Secretary/Treasure
· Phyllis O’Toole – Chaplain/3 Year Trustee
The installation of Officers will be held at either the April of May meeting. We look forward to another year of supporting our Post and the many programs that are available to help our veteran and their families.
It was brought up on the floor that we should increase future dues. Currently we only receive .45 cents from the $11.00. However; after much debating of this suggestion we decided that the dues shall remain as they are. If you are thinking about a life time membership give Ellain (251-0256) or myself (251-9037) a call for the current rate.

The highlight of our meeting was Gerry Meyer being presentd with her 45 year pin. As noted in the Newsletter she was also presented with the VFW Widows Pin.
The next meeting will be on April 28 at 7pm in the American Legion Hall located at N120W15932 Freistadt Road. There will be a sign up sheet for volunteers to help with the Buddy Poppy drive.
In Friendship
Mary Brown
President
