You can use the following trick that helps you invite all your friends at one time without you having to click on them one at a time if you wish

It can be applied to any fan page Smiley

To invite everyone you will want to copy the following code:

----------------------------------------------------------

javascript:elms=document.getElementById('friends').getElementsByTagName('li');for(var fid in elms){if(typeof elms[fid] === 'object'){fs.click(elms[fid]);}}

-----------------------------------------------

Then go to VFW WI fan page....click on "Suggest to Friends" ...it will open your friends box....then paste that code in top address bar and hit enter...give it a sec and it should highlight everyone...then hit send invitations

The top top address bar where you type in web addresses
it will seem strange but it works.

Thanks for all you do.

Retroactive Stop Loss Pay Deadline Approaching

Posted at 01:53 PM on Monday, July 26, 2010 by post8090

Those eligible must submit a claim by Oct. 21, 2010.

The 2009 War Supplemental Appropriations Act established Retroactive Stop Loss Special Pay (RSLSP), providing $500 for each month/partial month served in stop loss status. Service members, veterans, and beneficiaries of servicemembers whose service was involuntarily extended under Stop Loss between Sept. 11, 2001 and Sept. 30, 2009 are eligible for RSLSP.

To receive this benefit, those who served under stop loss must submit a claim for the special pay. Throughout the year, the services have been reaching out to servicemembers, veterans and their families through direct mail, veteran service organizations, and the media. But there is still money left to be claimed, and the deadline is approaching. The average benefit is $3,700.

Department Mourns Loss of Reuben Kottwitz

Posted at 07:22 AM on Monday, July 19, 2010 by post8090

The VFW Department of Wisconsin lost an old and dear friend last week. Reuben George Kottwitz, 78, of Watertown, passed away Thursday morning, July 15, 2010, at Golden Living Center in Watertown after a long illness.

He was a mainstay of our conventions for many years, serving as Credentials Chairman. He was also the long-time Treasurer of the Past Commanders Club, where his dry humor and stentorian voice consistently made the early-morning meetings a treat.

Reuben was born in Waterloo on Jan. 28, 1932, son of August and Ida (Baumann) Kottwitz. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953, spending 18 months in Korea. Upon return to the United States, on April 23, 1955, he married the former Lorretta Klein at Salem Lutheran Church in Lowell. They moved to their home to Watertown where they raised two sons, Larry and Mark.

He owned and operated Kottwitz Manufacturing for 45 years where he was inventor of the Portalectric PTO. He also worked with his family at Kottwitz Electric Motor Service in Watertown.

Reuben was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown. He started the St. Mark's Lutheran Buckaroos, and for 38 years, was active with the St. Mark's Lutheran Pioneers. He also was District Commander of Aztalan District Pioneers and National Train Advisor.

Reuben was a member of the Watertown American Legion Post No. 189 for 50 years, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post No. 7852 for 53 years and was founder of the Cooties-Eitooc No. 24. He was State Chief of Staff for the VFW for one year, was Firing Squad Commander for VFW Post No. 7852 and the Watertown Veterans Council. Reuben was instrumental in starting the firing squad at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia. He was State Credentials Director, District Commander and County Counsel Commander. He also coached the VFW Youth Softball League in Richwood.

Reuben thought the world of his grandchildren. He also loved his Christmas traditions and telling jokes. He enjoyed his cabin in Glidden, deer hunting and tinkering. Reuben loved to bend your ear on any topic.

Reuben will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Lorretta of Watertown; his son, Mark (Connie) Kottwitz of Watertown; a daughter-in-law, Karen Kottwitz of Hartford; three granddaughters, Stefanea (Christopher) Rucinski of Rochester, Minn., Cassandra Kottwitz (Kody Ford) of Madison and Bethanea Kottwitz of Hartford; a great-grandson, Jack Ford; his brother, Harvey Kottwitz of Waupun; a sister, Helen Kruscinski of Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Reuben was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Larry Kottwitz; his sisters and brothers, Gladys Mohr, Clara Stangler, Dorothy Steinhorst, Adeline Keilhofer, Elsie Salmi, Myrtle Preder, Florence Henning, Henry Kottwitz, Earl Kottwitz and Leonard Kottwitz.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown with the Rev. Michael Jensen officiating. Burial with military graveside honors being provided by Watertown American Legion Post No. 189 and the VFW Post No. 7852 will be in Glenview Memorial Gardens, Ixonia.

Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Memorials to the family or the organization of one's choice would be appreciated.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Golden LivingCenter for all of their loving care to Reuben.

VFW Applauds New PTSD Claims Decision

Posted at 12:51 PM on Monday, July 12, 2010 by post8090

WASHINGTON, D.C., July 12, 2010 - The national commander of America's largest combat veterans organization is applauding the Department of Veterans Affairs for eliminating a requirement for veterans to explicitly prove that a traumatic event directly caused their post-traumatic stress.

"From this point forward," wrote VA Secretary Eric K. Shinseki in a statement released today, "VA will not require corroboration of a PTSD stressor related to fear of hostile military or terrorist activity, if a VA doctor confirms a diagnosis of PTSD and the stressful experience recalled by the veteran adequately supports that diagnosis."

Thomas J. Tradewell Sr., the national commander of the 2.1 million-member Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. and its Auxiliaries, called the VA secretary's decision to ease PTSD claims requirements a sea-change in the mindset of the VA. It follows numerous other decisions that increased the list of presumptions for diseases associated with Agent Orange exposure; increased services and programs for women veterans, veterans who reside in rural areas as well as the homeless; and reduced the size of the claims form from 23 to 10 pages. Tradewell said even the VA's outreach to patients possibly exposed to improperly sterilized equipment at a small number of its hospitals reflects the department's proactive, veterans' first attitude.
