The following is the text of a letter received from Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin to Department of Wisconsin National Legislative Chair Steve Lawrence:
Thank you for contacting me regarding the Post-9/11 Veterans' Educational Assistance Act of 2007, H.R. 2702. It is good to hear from you, and I apologize for the delay in my response.
Like you, I strongly believe that our country must honor the commitments we have made to our veterans. One of the ways this can be accomplished is to provide substantial financial aid for higher education for our veterans. As you may know, the Post-9/11 Veterans' Educational Assistance Act of 2007, H.R. 2702 amends federal veterans' benefits provisions to entitle certain individuals who serve on active duty in the Armed Forces, including the reserves, on or after September 11, 2001 to educational assistance under the Montgomery GI Bill. This educational assistance must be used within 15 years of the individual's discharge or release from active duty. Please know that I will keep your thoughts in mind on this legislation as I continue to support expanding educational assistance for our veterans.
Again, thank you for sharing your views. Your opinion matters to me. If I can be of service to you in any other way, please do not hesitate to let me know. As a security precaution, all mail sent to Congress is first irradiated. This process causes significant delays. To ensure the fastest response, I encourage all constituents who have access to the internet to contact me through my website at http://tammybaldwin.house.gov.

Sincerely,
