Comrades - we had a great conference in Green Bay on February 15 and 16.  Thanks to the weather, we even got to spend an extra day enjoying the comraderie of our fellow members and of course the casinos.  Thanks to all attended, you took time away from your busy schedules to conduct the important business of the VFW.  Our raffle was very successful, we fell just short of our goal.  Thanks to all that sold or bought the tickets.  Winner's names are on the website.  Bill Knudson, our web administrator, has done a great job of getting this all set up.  Now, we want to get all Posts and Districts to also get their websites set up and linked to our State Website.   There is a form on the website to get your Post signed up for this.  Our outreach to potential members will increase with our web presence.

Membership

Membership is a very important piece of the VFW.   We need our members support when we ask our legislators at the National or State levels to support Veteran friendly legislation.  If you are not yet a member, please consider joining.  By joining you are helping to maintain and perhaps improve the Veterans Benefits that we have today.  The VA Hospital System, the modern GI Bill, Veterans hiring preference, Veteran Disabilty Compensation and Veteran pensions are a few of the benefits enjoyed by Veterans today.  These benefits were earned by Veterans and were enacted only because Veterans before us carried the fight to Washington DC and Madison Wisconsin.  Todays Veterans need to continue this tradition of caring for future Veterans.

Thank you if you are already a member of the VFW.  You have had a part in getting the benefits that we enjoy today.

Holiday Greetings

Sunday, December 16, 2007 at 8:29 PM

by Commander William F. Hustad

It is that time of the year that we show our thanks for the many blessing we have recieved.  It is also a time to spend time with those friends and family that mean so much to us.  We need to remember those less fortunate during this Holiday Season.  We have many Veterans in Hospitals, many Military Personnel spending time in harms way and also away from home, and Veterans and their families that are in need.  The VFW is there for all of these people.  I urge all Posts to spend time and funds meeting the mission of the VFW.
