Looking for Volunteers to help in Membership

Posted at 6:33 PM on Sunday, November 15, 2009 by Arlene in Membership

Looking for some TEAMWORK Volunteers!

We are starting to get posts asking for help in getting there membership dues collected and try to get new/reinstated members.  THIS IS GREAT!!!

I am looking for many volunteers across the state.  We will offer all places and dates as they come.  If you cannot help with one, perhaps there is another you can help with.  It is my hope we can go into a post with 4 teams and hope for at least 2 teams from the post.  We will do what we can in one long day.  In posts that I have done this in, the results were very positive, so this is a very workable solution with TEAMWORK.

Please email me at chiefofstaff@wi.vfwwebmail.com with your name and a way I can contact you if you would like to be a VFW membership team member.  I will welcome and appreciate your offer of help until you can be better paid!

GO VFW!!!!!!

October Thunder Results

Posted at 9:32 AM on Sunday, November 15, 2009 by Arlene

The month of October most posts showed growth in Annual dues collections and/or new/reinstated members.  Even though a few posts fell short of the task, the month was a success.  There are a few posts that deserve special recognition for their outstanding achievements in October.  And I am sure you all want to know who won!

Twenty one posts in all either met or exceeded the standards set for October Thunder Month.

Of those twenty one posts, special recognition goes to the following:

Posts who met or exceeded Annual Dues Collections goal for October:

Marshall, Post 10510 achieved 300% - Genesee Depot, Post 5270 achieved 220% - Delavan, Post 10173 achieved 200% - Tichigan, Post 10441 achieved 200% - Lowell, Post 9392 achieved 155.55% - Verona, Post 8653 achieved 150% - Plainfield, Post 6007; Watertown, Post 3709; and Muskego, Post 8171 each achieved 133.33% - Arena, Post 9336 achieved 112.5% - Rochester, Post 11038; Williams Bay, Post 2373; Lake Geneva, Post 5811; Prescott, post 9060; Whitewater, Post 5470; East Troy, Post 7501; Benton, Post 7896; Barton, Post 8658; White Lake, Post 9438; Nelso, Post 6201; and Almena Post 8512 all achieved 100%.

The Top 10 Posts with the highest New/Reinstate Percentages for October:

Pardeville, Post 10263 with 31.25%; Onieda, Post 7784 with 19.23%; Horicon, Post 8057 with 10.15%; Poynette, Post10266 with 7.55%; Mount Horeb, Post 9511 with 6.76%; Rochester, Post 11038 5.71%; Phillips, Post 5778 with 5.48%; Mequon, Post 9207 with 5.12%; Montfort, Post 9298 with 5.10%.

And the WINNER IS...

Rochester, Post 11038!  While their percentages in each catagory was not the highest, they are the only post who met or exceeded both halves of the challenge.  CONGRATULATIONS ROCHESTER!  They will receive their prize at the Mid-Winter Conference and yes...it is WAY COOL!

THE DUES ROUNDUP IS BACK!

Posted at 10:36 PM on Thursday, October 22, 2009 by Arlene in Membership

Where and when did "personal" visits to our membership to see how they were doing and collect annual dues? Ask 100 members and you very well may get 100 answers. Times change, but have they changed so much that we simply have forgotten those who are within our ranks?

Some say the Direct Dues were the cause of the drop in those personal visits. Some say the dropping of the Dues Round-ups were the cause. Those two reasons may have been contributing factors, but certainly not excuses. Excuses fall more to, "They never come to meetings", "They were called", or simply no reason given…they just simply have been forgotten.

This process makes a double-edged sword, comrades. If you actually venture out and take the time to visit those in your ranks, you are likely to get comments like, "No one has ever contacted me from the post, so I wrote you off", "I have been sick for months", "I had a death in the family", "My pension just doesn't stretch far enough to pay those dues"…and the list goes on.

Everyone has a reason for not making those personal visits and everyone has a reason for not paying dues. October is Thunder Month. Part of that is to go out to the homes of those annual members of your post and see how they are doing while you attempt to collect those dues.

"Get to the point, Arlene" you are thinking! Well…DUES ROUNDUPS ARE BACK! We will be conducting a Dues Roundup in November. We will be doing this jointly with the Ladies Auxiliary. Exact dates will be sent to every Post Commander and President. District Commanders and Presidents will be encouraged to be present in their home post. Have those annual dues along with all your New/Reinstates ready to hand over to the Round-up Team. They will have time for a short visit, so feel free to address any issues/concerns you have during that visit.

Every Post will be expected to participate in the Dues Roundup and we look forward to seeing you!

HOW IT WORKS:
On Oct 1, 2009, the State Chief of Staff will print the MemStats.
Posts and Districts work together to conduct MASSIVE Membership Thunder Runs is your respective communities and those communities nearby who do not have a VFW Post.
Thunder Run to collect Annual Dues.
•           Thunder Run to public areas to hand out post cards that give your Post Contact information and why they should join the VFW.

o     Posts can make these up and print them. OR, your Post can order brochures from VFW National and put your Post Contact Information on a label and place on the brochure.
Work Parking Lots, Grocery Stores, Pubs, and the like.

WHAT'S THE END RUN?
Chief of Staff will print MemStats, again, on Oct 31, 2009 and all Posts will be tallied by numbers and percentages.
The Post that collects 75% or more of their annual dues in the month of October and has the greatest number of New/Reinstated members on Oct 31, 2009 will receive an unannounced award (it will be cool!)

I want to hear a lot of VFW THUNDER in October! Dare to be remarkable!

Become a part of the Wisconsin 100!!!

We are looking for 100 energetic and aggressive members to become State Certified Recruiters. Training will be provided by our Certified National Recruiters in all areas of the State. We will need Posts to offer space in all Districts and provide coffee. tea, hot chocolate and doughnuts, coffee cakes, or the like.

The training will take the better part of a day to include physical recruiting. Each newly trained recruiter will get a recruiters kit and may purchase a name tag and cap (unless we can spring for those out of the membership budget).

The State Recruiter expectation will always be ˝ of the recruiting expectations of the National Recruiters. Excelling those standards is always WAY OK! We never expect you to take this on as a full time job, but do expect you to put forth good effort to gain membership numbers in the state. Special Awards programs will be adopted for this new select group.

Sign-up Forms are available [CLICK HERE] or you can go to the WebCom Forms and send your completed form to chiefofstaff@wi.vfwwebmail.com.
