Other Information: Lance Corporal Douglas Warren Hogge, USMC (25AUG1946 - 05 JUNE1966) of Yorktown, VA was in LIMA Company, 3rd BN, 1ST MARINES, 1ST MARDIV and is now memorialized at Panel 08E Line 010 on "the Wall" and in the name of our post. His bro. Arturo Garza left this excerpt of the official report of the patrol in Quong Nam Province, RVN where Douglas was killed "05 June 1966 - At 051115H, Company L patrol detonated a mine while searching temple vicinity AT987687. The mine, embedded in cement on the temple porch was estimated to be at least ten pounds of unknown explosive and created a crater three feet in diameter in the cement. The initial explosion also detonated one M-26 fragmentation grenade, one CS grenade, and one WP grenade in the grenade pouch of the Marines closest to the explosion. Three Marines at a distance of ten, twenty, and thirty yards respectfully [sic] from the explosion were wounded, and the Marine closest to the point of explosion was killed." (Wall information is online @ http://www.virtualwall.org/dh/HoggeDW01a.htm ) PFC Allen M. Tate, USMC (24OCT1944-26JAN1966) of Dare, VA also died on patrol in Quong Nam Province, RVN. He is now memorialized at Panel 08E Line 010 on "The Wall" and by the name of our post.
