Ed Salau from New Bern, NC is the recipient of a new companion Gabriel, as a result of last year's Special Project for Carolina Canines. Ed retired from the Army National Guard in April 2005 and is the East Coast Director of the Wounded Warrior Project. He lost his leg when his Bradley was hit by a rocket propelled grenade (RPG) in Iraq.

Tuesday Nov 6 was the first day of training for Ed and Gabriel. In fact, the training went so well that Gabriel got to go home (to the motel) with Ed. That usually does not happen after the first day. Past Department President Deborah Crowder and the Department Chairperson, Janet Holeman (Post 9983) are very excited and can't thank everyone enough for all the support shown for last year's special project, which raised over $31K. Rick says that we could not have gotten a more deserving person to receive the dog. He says that Ed is a really remarkable man. Keep praying for them all.

Mr. Toby Ellis from Fayetteville was given a certificate of appreciation for forming a motorcycle ride to raise money for the Ladies Auxiliary.
