We have received the following email regarding another scam. Gunner requested I pass this information on to you.
Betty
Please disseminate to local Veterans Organizational Leaders,
Recently, I was contacted by a individual claiming to be "Butch (Dayne) Miller". He claimed that he was a member of our post and his wife died while traveling back from Illinois to Arizona. He said he sent all of his money on the cremation of his wife and need money for gas to make it back to Sierra Vista. He mentioned that he had met me at the VFW and know some of the officers.
I told him that I need to convene with are board and this is unusual for us to handle an out of state request. Our Quarter was not able to verified his membership by name. I recontacted Mr. Miller and asked him for his local address so I can verify his membership. He gave an incorrect address of Cardenas Apartment's on Allen Street in Sierra Vista. There is no record of an Allen Street or Cardenious Appartments.
Mr. Miller has not contacted back.
