<description>The Home Depot has once again revised their grant program which is now entitled &amp;ldquo;Building Healthy Community Grants.&amp;ldquo;

<title>Greensboro Historical Museum Collecting Local Veteran&amp;#039;s Stories</title>
<description>Throughout our nation&amp;#039;s history, citizens have answered the country&amp;#039;s call to arms.&amp;nbsp; The Greensboro Historical Museum wants to collect stories of Service and Sacrifice from local veterans in their own worlds.&amp;nbsp; These stories and accompanying images will be featured in an upcoming exhibition entitled, Voices of a City, Greensboro,&amp;nbsp;North Carolina, scheduled to open in 2010.
All veterans from World War II through the current War on Terror are invited to participate in this project by telling their stories to the museum.&amp;nbsp; In addition to male veterans, the museum is interested in the women who served in&amp;nbsp;or with the Armed Forces, or had experiences through organizations such as the United Service Organizations (USO), the Salvation Army, the American Red Cross, or in defense related industry during Second World War.

<title>District 10 VOD Winner Awards are Presented</title>
<description>Commander Carson Greene from Lexington, NC Post 3074 recently visited Ledford High School in Thomasville to present the Voice of Democracy District 10&amp;nbsp;First and&amp;nbsp;Second Place winners with their awards. The awards were telecast over the entire school.
Ms. Brittany Best was award with the First Place Award and Ms. Bethany Burch was awarded with Second Place. Both Brittant and Bethany are to be congratulated on their accomplishment.

<title>U.S. Representative Howard Coble Speaks Before Navy JROTC Unit</title>
<description>&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Post 2972 Life Member, Dirk Butler, Northeast High School Navy JROTC Department in Guliford County, recently was honored on 18 February 2009, to have U.S. Representative Howard Coble (R-NC 6th District) speak before the members of the the NJROTC. Representative Coble spoke to the cadets about the importance of leadership, citizenship, and developing team building skills.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;
&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Comrade Butler transfered to Post 2972 from Japan and became head of Northeast&amp;#039;s JROTC Program.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;

<title>District 10 Anounces Teacher of the Year and Patriots Pen Winners</title>
<description>On Monday, February 9, 2009, District 10 went to Eastern Guliford Middle School to award the district winners of the Teacher of the Year and Patriots Pen.
The Patriots Pen winner was 8th grader Eric Johnson who was accompanied by his mother and Ms. Dolores Paylor was the Teacher of the Year. Both were sponsored by Post 2972 and it&amp;#039;s Ladies Auxiliary.&amp;nbsp; Ms. Paylor had served in the US Army.

<title>District Provides Funds for Family Christmas Party</title>
<description>As part of a joint effort, The Department of NC, District 10, and VFW Post 2972, provided $600.00 for a Burlington North Carolina National Guard company (Alpha Co. [Intel/Recon], 30th STM Battalion) to have a Family Christmas party that was held in the Burlington NG Armory.&amp;nbsp; They fed more than 96 people and provided gifts to over 23 kids. District 10 Commander, &amp;quot;Buzz&amp;quot; Griggs, the National Guard Area Coordinator for North Carolina, was the key person for this activity.

<title>District 10 Holds Fall Meeting at Lexington Post</title>
<description>District 10 held their Fall meeting at Post 3074 in Lexington, NC on Sunday, 22nd November 2008. District Commander Euell &amp;quot;Buzz&amp;quot; Griggs called the meeting to order at 12 noon. State Commander Larry Flood and State Auxiliary Chaplain Barbara Icard were the Department Representatives.
