Memorial Day Memories
On Sunday, may 25th, 2008, we again honored Veterans during our Ceremony at Pisgah View Memorial Park in Candler. This event is one of respect and tribute for Veterans of all eras. For all officers, guests and visitors who attended, we salute you. We also invite all members and their families to attend this event ever year.
Once again out Post opened the doors for an open house on the Sunday before Memorial day!!! There was good food , pleasant company, community fellowship and music. Even the weather seemed to agree this celebration would be a wonderful time. We would like to thank everyone who volunteered their time to come and celebrate this Memorial Day with us.
Game Honoring GI's
Take us ALL out to the Ball Game!!!!!! On Sunday, June 8, 2008, Post 891 will be hosting VFW Day at McCormick Field. This will be a fun and exciting day for all members, families and guests! We will be supporting the Asheville Tourists as they take on the Greenville Drive. You can order your discounted tickets ( only $5 per seat ) by calling either Stacie Owensby at 216-5146 or Larry Fowler at 254-4277 prior to the game. You can also just show up and find the VFW representative at the front gate! We will be partnering with the Auxiliary to host a table with information, Buddy Poppies, and other membership materials. Please help out by sigining up to monitor the table for a short period of time during the game. VFW members and guests entry time is 12:30 for a guided tour of the facility. Game starts at 2:05 pm.
Post as a new Party Place
As we move into a new Membership Year, let's also move in a new direction with the post. We have had continued sucess with the re-instatement of the monthly breakfast. We also have a wonderful new dart board!!!! We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone we also have horseshoe pits and picnic area located just outside. If there is anyone who would be interested in pitiching horseshoes, or even getting a tournament started, please don't hestitate to let the office know!! We always accept suggestions and will be happy to to discuss them! We want all of our members to feel they can use the Post.
