Recent Vets we need YOU...help!

Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 12:05 PM

by post2573

The VFW has been around for a long time and faced the need to get new veterans involved in the organization multiple times with WWII, Korean, Viet Nam, Desert Storm et.al. veterans available for membership but often not wanting to join.

I don't think anyone knows why you, the recent veteran, is not joining.  This blog entry is aimed at asking you what would motivate you to join a veterans organization?  How do you feel about the VFW?  What do you need from a veterans organization?  If you are already familiar with our local Post 2573 what needs to change to bring you into the brotherhood?

Respond in the comments so that everyone reading can see your issues or email to:

Medal of Honor winner casket turns golden

Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 03:29 PM

by post2573

There is an email going around that talks about the funeral of Mike Monsoor.  The email claims that navy SEALS in attendance put their trident pins on the casket as a tribute to Monsoor's action saving the lives of two of his team.

When emails like this come around you often find they are fakes made up for someone's political or social agenda.  Before I post anything to this blog that uses emails that I receive I go to snopes.com to verify the information.  Because of the verification step most do not get posted!

This one is true and a great tribute from the survivors to their fallen brother.  The link to snopes is below, look at the pictures to see how the casket turns golden:
