MAP Event Reimbursements
This memo provides information on the procedure for VFW Departments, Districts or Posts to request a MAP Grant reimbursement from VFW National Headquarters.
• Do not assume expenditure will be reimbursed. Each MAP Grant Application is reviewed individually.
• Get pre-approval from the MAP office before committing your Department/Post funds, if you intend to seek reimbursement.
• Pre-approval request must include event details; all sections of the MAP Grant Application must be completed. Go to http://www.vfw.org/resources/pdf/mapgrant.pdf for application
• MAP Grant Application, expense breakdown, receipts and MAP Event Project Report must be completed and submitted with you reimbursement request
• Reimbursement requests must be submitted within 30 days of the event. Event information submitted for reimbursement must be consistent with event information submitted for pre-approval.
Please distribute this information throughout your Department. If there are any questions, contact VFW National Military Services Director, Michael Penney at (816) 968-2777.

Classic Cars Rally for Free Phone Time
Classic car enthusiasts from all over the state of
Florida came out to support
VFW Operation Uplink
at the Tervis Tumbler Benefit Car, Truck and Bike
show in mid-April.
The event was planned by the Klassics, Antiques and
Rods Associaton (KARA), a group of car enthusiasts
dedicated to supporting the troops.

our ongoing charities.We raise several hundred
dollars each year.”
Spencer’s wife, Laura, is the CEO of Tervis Tumbler,
the main sponsor of the car show. He convinced her
to donate the money from the annual fundraiser to

“I contacted the VFW, and they gave me a lot of
information to hand out,” said Spencer. “Whenever
we would advertise or do on-air plugs with local radio
stations, I always mentioned that

The car show took place on a beautiful Florida
afternoon. Over 100 cars parked at the event, and
the local community came to marvel at the cars and
support a good cause.
Spencer rallied the support of local businesses and asked
them to donate items for silent auctions and door prizes.
Along with the car show and the auction, there were
donation boxes and food booths.
“All the venders set up their trailers, and we created a
“midway’ where people could get everything from food
to t-shirts,” explained Spencer. “We also made goodie
bags with items from sponsoring companies and

$1,500!
“We had hundreds of spectators stop by throughout the
day to see the cars,” said Spencer. “It was packed, and
the parking lot was overflowing!”
