The meeting was held at Post 2087 in Greensboro but with Greensboro Post 10299 and Commander Nat Degraffenredit and his post members hosted the event.
State Representatives were Commander John Shelander and Ladies Auxiliary State Chaplain Janice Butterworth. The meeting was attended by all but five posts, Madison, Mayodan, Stoneville, Climax, and Randleman were non shows. The district also welcomed Chief of Staff Tommie Warren who accompanied Commander Shelander.
The following awards were given to teachers and students from the district.
1. Patriot Pen Winner , Nichole Shumaker, from Greensboro Montessori School, and sponsored by Post 2087 received cash award of 100.00 and a certificate for her winning effort
There was a total of 156 students who entered the contest from through out the district which made the judging more difficult than ever before
2. The VOD winner was Ms. Marisa Halm, who attends Rockingham High School, and was sponsored by Midway-Monroeton Post 8297.
3. The K-5 grade Dist 10 winner also out of Post 8297, Midway - Monroeton was Ms. Dorothy C. Raynor who teaches at the Monroeton Elementary School.
4. Middle School Winner, was Ms. Cathy Koontz, a 7th grade teacher at E. Lawson Brown In Thomasville and was sponsored by Post 619 High Point
All of the winners were given certificates and a cash award of 100.00. Congregations to all entries and to our winners and we wish them well in the state competition.
Awards of pins, plagues, and certificates were awarded to the Post Commanders and Quartermasters for obtaining 100% of membership before Jan 1, 2008.
These Post were Post 2574 Commander Henry Kelly and QM David Turner, Post 2972 Commander Buzz Griggs and QM Cleatus Miller, Post 8297 Commander Bobby Jones, QM William Stantley, Post 8721 Liberty, Commander Art Coble and QM J W Roberson, Post 9899 Commander Ronald Hughes and QM Robert E. Moore, Post 2756, Thomasville Commander Ron Schirrman and QM Martin Stensen. Congregations to all the award winners!!!!!!!! NOTE: Pins and certificates will also be awarded to all most commanders and quartermasters who reach 100% before May 18, 2008.
Posts, according to National By Laws, are required to attend at least one district meeting a year, there are some posts who feel they are beyond the National rules and regulations, however, we need everyone pulling together and working together. There is no I in team, it takes all of us, there are no exceptions and no one is exempt from the National, State, or District By -Laws . I want to thank all of the members of the district and all the officers who are trying their best to make North Carolina one of the best states in the Nation. Keep up the good work, I will be seeing everyone again before the State Convention and hope everyone will reach 100% or better.GOD BLESS EACH AND EVERYONE OF US AND MAY BE CONTINUE TO BLESS THE GREAT STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA AND THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

District 8 held their Winter meeting at Post 670 in Fayetteville, NC. The host posts for this event was Post 10 from Raeford and Post 10630 from Hope Mills. Over 120 district VFW members and families of awardees of the VOD, Patriots Pen, Teachers of the Year, and Gold Medal awardees of Policeman, Fireman, and EMT of the year also.
The State of North Carolina VFW representatives at the meeting was State Commander John Shelander and the Ladies Auxiliary State President Dillie Staton. Commander Shelander presented membership awards to the post commanders and quartermasters of Post 10, Post 6018, and Post 10630 for achieving 100 percent membership.

The next District Meeting will be held at VFW Post 2843 in Pembroke. The date will be announced later. Nominations, elections, and installation of district officers for the 2008/2009 membership year will be done at the meeting also.

Fall District 10 Meeting in Greensboro

Greensboro Post 2087 hosted the October 2007 District 10 Meeting. State Sr. Vice Commander Larry Flood, and State Ladies Auxiliary Secretary Anna Holm were the Department Representatives. During the meeting, Post 8721 Post Commander, Arthur Coble received a certificate for being the first post in North Carolina to achive 100 percent membership for 2007-2008. Sr. VIce Commander Flood stressed membership goals for this year. Special Guest, State Blog Master Dick Easingwood talked about getting all post web sites active and offered assistance to any post.

District 10 Meeting, August 11, 2007

District 10, NC VFW held their quarterly meeting on Saturday, August 11, 2007 at VFW Post 5574 in High Point. Commander, Frank J. Watley of Post 5574 was the host for this event.
Past Department Commander Jim Headron and the State Ladies Auxiliary President Dillie Staton were the guest speakers at the meeting. Comrade Headron spoke briefly at joint session and President Staton was herself during the same session covering a number of subjects that make the men's session a lot shorter than usual.
The two groups shared an excellent meal prepared by the ladies of Post 5574 Auxiliary with plenty for seconds and take home plates. Thank - you ladies for all your effort. Great Job!!!!!
