<title>Veteran&amp;#039;s Memorial to be dedicated Nov. 11 in Nixa</title>
<description>A joint effort between veterans and the city of Nixa will soon provide a permanent Veteran&amp;#039;s Memorial in front of the Nixa Community Center.

A dedication ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. Nov. 11.
The event will include patriotic music, guest speakers, school children singing and a monument unveiling will highlight the ceremony on this special occasion.
The idea for this memorial to remember and honor all veterans was presented to the Nixa city aldermen in April. After support from the city, the project moved forward with design and construction during the past four months.
Volunteer labor and donated materials kept the cost to a minimum, a news release said.
About $10,000 in donations have been received so far and any additional donations will go to help maintain the memorial.
Donation envelopes are available at the Chamber of Commerce office or Nixa City Hall, or can be mailed to Nixa Community Foundation, P.O. Box 1821, Nixa, MO 65714.

<title>C of O students to assist WW II veterans on battlefield trip</title>
<description>

College of the Ozarks students will return to a World War II battlefield in September in the company of several veterans, according to the school.

Twelve students will assist six veterans of Operation Market Garden in the Netherlands on Sept. 15-22.

Operation Market Garden was the largest airborne battle in history and was an attempt by the Allies to take the Netherlands from the Nazis.

It is considered the biggest defeat suffered by the Allies during the northwest European campaign.

The students will work with the Greatest Generations Foundation on the trip.

In June, 20 C of O students accompanied ten D-Day veterans to the invasion&amp;rsquo;s 65th anniversary in France.

<title>August New/Reinstate Kick-off Month</title>
<description>Start the VFW year right with a membership drive.&amp;nbsp; Start August 1st.

Get those unpaid lists from your Post Quartermaster.&amp;nbsp; (Quartermaster you can find those lists on VFW e-membership.)

Form calling teams and call comrades on the list and ask them to come back to the best Veterans organization in the free world.&amp;nbsp; Go pick up their dues if they can&amp;rsquo;t bring them in.&amp;nbsp; If they actually can&amp;rsquo;t afford to pay their dues use money from your relief funds.

Get your Post Recruiter and your Post Service Officer and set up a recruiting booth in town.&amp;nbsp; If you have left over Buddy Poppies take those along with you.

Let your local newspaper, radio and TV stations know and have a notice put in your church bulletins.&amp;nbsp; The VFW is having a membership drive.&amp;nbsp; .

We are asking each Post to get a minimum of five (5) new or reinstated members during the month of August.

Once this is accomplished you are well on your way to becoming an All State Post.

While you are out there, ask every veteran you talk to whether he or she has filed for VA benefits.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; If they haven&amp;rsquo;t or if it&amp;rsquo;s been a long time since they filed, fill out a referral form and let them know one of our VFW Service Officer will call them in a few days.&amp;nbsp; The only thing keeping you from being successful is YOU.

Recruiting, retention and Veterans Service all in one package.&amp;nbsp; We can make it happen if we work together!

Dave Morgan&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Bob Wonnell&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Olin Parks
