Mtn Grove VFW attends Norwood Veterans Day Program

Mountain Grove VFW Post 3770 members I. J. Kelley and Chuck Morgan prepare to "Post the Colors" to begin the 2008 Norwood School Veterans Day Program.
The "Colors" were presented while the students, veterans and guests gave the "Pledge of Allegiance" and sang the national anthem "The Star Spangled Banner"
The Norwood High School Band played the various Military Anthems While student Tony Ward identifies the anthems and invites the veterans to stand while theirs is played.

Student Council members Richmond Tate and Brianna Cudworth present the
"Missing Man Table" Ceremony.
Veteran Murrell Clark gives the keynote address to the students, veterans and guests.
The Norwood School Tessitura Invitational Choir presented the piece "We The People" by John Roggio. 
FFA member Alicia Martin reads the meaning of the folds
while FFA members Lynn Saladin and Rebecca Stokes respectfully fold "Old Glory
"
I. J. Kelley speaks to the crowd about veterans and that they are living history of America's wars while the veterans in the crowd stand to be recognized.
The  VFW Post 3770 First place winner in this years "Voice of Democracy" contest was Margaret Golden of Norwood High School.  Here she is shown giving her winning speech.
A slide show was presented of area veterans that hve had their photos and info submitted.  This is a continuing slide show from years past with more added each year.  I have included just a sampling.
The song "Instrument of Peace" by Greg Gilpin was presented by the Norwood High School Choir and Special Guests.
Norwood student Morris Jenkins gave the Origin of Taps and then
"Taps" was played by buglers Morris Jenkins, Chandler Connell, Christy Chadwell and Jessica Reese while
VFW Post 3770 members retired the "Colors".

    Mtn Grove Post 3770 wishes to thank the students and staff for an excellent program.
  A special note of recognition should go out to Norwood Teacher Lisa Jones for all the hard work she does presenting the program each year.  The Choirs, Band, Student Council, FFA,  buglers and all who had a hand in this years production gave an outstanding performance.
    We would also like to thank Ladies Auxiliary member Tina Sweet for graciously taking the photos for us.
