November 9th, 2007, Mountain Grove VFW Post 3770 was invited to participate in Norwood School's Annual Veterans Day Program.  The event was scheduled to begin at 10:00 a. m..

Comrades James A. Smith, Gene Hastings and Iris Joe Kelley are waiting to start the event by "Posting the Colors"

Colors Posted.

National Anthem by the Norwood High School Choir and Syncopation.

Now seated to enjoy the program.  On the far left is Missouri Rep Van Kelly.

Norwood High School Youth Essay Winner - Elizabeth Baker, 10th grade. I will post her fine speech when I receive it from her.  A very moving essay.

Flag Folding Demonstration by Norwood FFA. Senior Dustin Forrest is narrating while Juniors Lynn Saladin (L) and Becca Stokes (R) carefully fold the US Flag.

Mo State Representative Van Kelly gave the keynote address.  He promised me he would e-mail me his speech.  I will post it as soon as I receive it.

Following his address the Student Council (represented by Kayla McIntosh, Kyla Turner, Stacey Smith and Brianna Cudworth) presented a very moving  "Missing Man Table Ceremony".  I obtained a video of it but do not have the upload speed to post it this evening.  When I catch the right speed I will get it posted on a new entry.  This was followed by a Slide Show Tribute to all Veterans.

The Norwood High School Choir performed "My America"

To end the program a fine rendition of "Echoing Taps" was performed by buglers unknown.

We were proud of our participants from Post 3770! One of the buglers was Chandler Connell (son of a Veteran). Not sure about the other two. Thanks to all the wonderful Veterans!! NS
