It is with great sadness to inform you of the passing of Sr. Vice Commander, Joe Lundy, on Saturday, June 27, 2009. Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2009, at the Robinson Drago Funeral Home, 211 West Main, West Plains, Missouri. Wayne Asher, State VFW Chaplain, will be officiating. The family requests that no flowers be sent. In lieu of flowers, _expressions of sympathy may be made to the Veterans Service Officer Program, Department of Missouri Veterans of Foreign Wars, P.O. Box 26, Jefferson City MO 65102-0026. Arrangements are under the direction of the Robinson Drago Funeral Home, 417-256-2121.Photos from Dept Convention

Mtn Grove VFW presents "Color Ceremony" at Tri-County Fair

Mtn grove VFW Post 3770 built and dedicated to the veterans of Desert Storm the flag pole at the Tri-County Fairgrounds on July 4, 1991. A plaque was added in 2008 honoring Jerry T. Conkin for all the flag poles he built and installed around the town of Mtn Grove.Every year since 1991 VFW Post 3770 has performed a "Color Ceremony" to officially open the Tri-County Fair.

Post 6508, Houston, Mo makes Donation to VSO Fund

Outgoing District 18 Commander, Charlie Dickinson, presents a check for $50,000.00 from the sale of Houston Post Home #6508 to State Commander Dave Morgan. State Commander Morgan expressed his sincere regret that the post situation had come to this. He further expressed his appreciation and thanks to Houston Post Members for their contribution and support of the Veterans Service Officer Program. Proceeds were donated to the Veterans Service Officer Program.

Mtn Grove VFW Observes Flag Day

June 14th , Flag Day saw Mtn Grove VFW Post 3770 observe "Flag Day" with a Color Ceremony. Attending were: Post Jr-Vice Commander Leonard Kennon, Post Advocate Scott Overholser, Dist 18 VSIO/QM ED Hawley, current Post Sr-Vice Commander/Post Commander-Elect Pete Proctor and (not shown) Post QM Joe Kelley. Ladies Auxiliary members in attendance were Treasurer Leah Swanger, Guard Glinda Kelley, and Chaplain-Elect Regina Overholser. Scott and Regina Overholser were accompanied by their grandson.
It was raining just before the ceremony was to begin but halted for us to conduct the ceremony.

District 18 School of Instruction

The "School of Instruction" for the 18th District will be held on July 25th at Cabool VFW Post 473. It will begin at 10:00 a.m. but please try to come a little early. All District 18 Post Commanders, Quartermasters and Service Officers should attend. Other Post members are urged to attend. Good time to learn and have questions answered.Cheerily
