Upon the return from Kosovo of Battery A 1st of the 129th to Albany, the soldiers pledged that they would help bring Post 5329 back to life. Their first re-organization meeting was held on October 3, 2009 with great success. Posting the date and time of the meeting in the local newspaper brought out others that wished to join, as well. They are now meeting at the Armory on drill weekends.

Success for Veterans Program

Posted at 10:51 AM on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 by District 3

In April 2009, the American Council of Education and the Wal-Mart foundation announced that Park University was the recipient of a $100,000 Success for Veterans Grant.  Park was one of the 20 higher Learning Institutions and the only one in the Midwest, awarded a portion of a total of 42 million in grants.  The grants supports efforts to create online orientation programs, expanding on-campus veterans service centers, enhance perspective student outreach efforts, and increase capacity for counseling and psychological services.

History

The University began its relationship with the United States Military in the early 1940’s and has been selected as one of Military Advanced Education’s Top Military Friendly Colleges and Universities. In naming the University to the list published in December 2008, the magazine described Park’s Academic Programs as innovative and steeped in excellence.

Park University is committed to serving you.  Join us in the exciting venture in continuing to change the world around us through education.

August New/Reinstate Kick-off Month

Posted at 05:53 PM on Friday, August 7, 2009 by District 3

Start the VFW year right with a membership drive.  Start August 1st.

Get those unpaid lists from your Post Quartermaster.  (Quartermaster you can find those lists on VFW e-membership.)

Form calling teams and call comrades on the list and ask them to come back to the best Veterans organization in the free world.  Go pick up their dues if they can’t bring them in.  If they actually can’t afford to pay their dues use money from your relief funds.

Get your Post Recruiter and your Post Service Officer and set up a recruiting booth in town.  If you have left over Buddy Poppies take those along with you.

Let your local newspaper, radio and TV stations know and have a notice put in your church bulletins.  The VFW is having a membership drive.  .

We are asking each Post to get a minimum of five (5) new or reinstated members during the month of August.

Once this is accomplished you are well on your way to becoming an All State Post.

While you are out there, ask every veteran you talk to whether he or she has filed for VA benefits.      If they haven’t or if it’s been a long time since they filed, fill out a referral form and let them know one of our VFW Service Officer will call them in a few days.  The only thing keeping you from being successful is YOU.

Recruiting, retention and Veterans Service all in one package.  We can make it happen if we work together!
