Hats for Veterans from Bob Hoss Dodge
Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 07:50 AM
by dist3
Department Veterans Service Information Officer Bob Wonnell was at a VFW Information Booth outside Cabella’s in Kansas City last weekend. The booth beside our information boot was Bob Hoss Dodge. The car dealer was giving away hats to anyone who bought a raffle ticket to support the VFW. Well being a resourceful kinda guy our VSIO asked Bob Hoss if he would donate some hats for the hats Veterans in the Missouri Veterans home in Warrensburg. At the end of the show Bob Hoss donated two dozen hats which Bob delivered to the homes Director of Volunteer Services Jan Smith and Administrator of the Warrensburg Veterans Home , Eric Endsley. The Veterans are always needing hats and they were immediately put into service.

1. House Passes New GI Bill/ Senate to Vote This Week
Despite the surprise defeat of the war supplemental funding package in the House last week, the VFW-backed GI Bill did pass in a separate vote by 256-166. This week, the Senate is expected to take up its version of the war supplemental - possibly Tuesday or Wednesday.
Please contact your Senators and urge them to include S. 22 in the War Supplemental - this language provides a GI Bill much like the WWII comprehensive education package. VFW has made this a priority goal. We are so close, but we need your help. Call your Senators today - tell them to vote YES in support of this GI Bill, S. 22. It is the right thing to do for today and tomorrow's veterans!

This is the largest that has been issued in quite some time so it will take a minute to load. Be patient, it is worth the wait. Lots of good photos and stories. The line officers have done a tremendous job with their articles also. It does take Adobe Reader to access.
