District 18 Veteran Benefit Days in Douglas County.

Posted at 07:35 PM on Sunday, October 18, 2009 by District 18

Ava Post 5993 and Mountain Grove Post 3770 worked together to hold a Veterans Benefit Day event during the 1st Annual Mo Fox Trotters Heritage Days.  It was a two day event.  Dist 18 VSIO Ed Hawley worked both days.  Ava Post 5993 helped Comrade Hawley set up and stayed and assisted on Friday and Mtn Grove Post 3770 joined him on Saturday.  There were lots of veterans spoken with and Ava Post was able to recruit two new members and garnered three referrals and the Mtn Grove Post gathered four referrals.  It was a overcast windy cold day on Saturday and the crowd was very small.  It was quite an accomplishment to get the seven referrals since it was such a small crowd.
Below are some photos that were taken on Saturday.

Both Posts are looking forward to trying again next year. Maybe the weather will be more cooperative.
