Iraqi Vet Treking Appalachian Trail to Raise Awareness for Homeless Vets

JAY, Maine, July 15, 2008--Jarad Greeley, a resident of North Jay, Maine, and a life member from Frank L. Mitchell Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3335, is hiking the Appalachian Trail to raise awareness and donations for the homeless veterans in the U.S.

Jarad is an Iraq War veteran who was in Iraq from August 2006 through October 2007 with the 2-505 Parachute Infantry Regiment. After a four-year commitment with the U. S. Army, Jarad decided he wanted to do something for other veterans, so during his 15-month tour, he decided he to hike the Appalachian Trail--from Springer Mountain in Georgia to trails end atop Mount Katahdin in Maine--to raise awareness for homeless veterans.
