VFW Racing Driver Seeks 5th Consecutive Win

Posted at 07:18 AM on Thursday, July 30, 2009 by post7535

VFW Racing Truck Series driver Ron Hornaday will seek to extend his record-setting streak this weekend at Nashville Superspeedway in the Toyota Tundra 200.

Hornaday set a NASCAR Truck Series record last weekend winning his fourth consecutive race at O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis.  The VFW driver's streak began at The Milwaukee (Wisc.) Mile in June, followed by wins at Memphis (Tenn.) Motorsports Park, Kentucky Speedway and O’Reilly Raceway Park (ORP). Hornaday will go for an unprecedented five wins in a row this weekend at Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway.

Last week at O’Reilly Raceway Park, Hornaday and the No. 33 Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) team made Truck Series history by winning their fourth race in a row, their fifth victory in 2009. The win marked Hornaday’s 44th career victory and extended his points lead to 174 points over Mike Skinner.

Nashville Superspeedway is one of only eight tracks on the current Truck Series circuit where Hornaday has yet to tally a win. The others include: Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, Auto Club Speedway, Martinsville (Va.) Speedway, Michigan International Speedway, Chicagoland Speedway, Iowa Speedway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway.

The Nashville race will get underway at 7:30 PM EST on Saturday.
