I am new here - I just saw the Vietnam Wall Memorial in Phoenix over the weekend.  It was beautiful.  I am ashamed that I grew up in an environment where country clubs and social events were what mattered over everything.  I never knew anything about Vietnam until I went this weekend and learned.  My dad was an OBGYN in the Air Force and died in 1970 and my mom never talked about any war saying that I didn't need to know anything about that.  I am so proud of the people who have fought for my freedom.  I am usually very shy about approaching soldiers and vets so I will use this forum to say thank you....thank you from the bottom of my heart.  I wish I could do something to be involved, to help, to volunteer....anything.

Just sign me...grateful forever...

In 2006 the Vallejo, California Veterans Memorial was desecrated by the theft of a bronze plaque containing the names of Vallejo veterans. The loss equated to a $25,000.00 price to properly restore the memorial and engrave the names of the veterans in granite.
To date the money has not been raised.

My name is Sam Kurshan. I am running for City Council in Vallejo.
I will be donating 1/2 of all future campaign contributions to the fund to restore the memorial.
In fact I'll go one better. In light of donating to my campaign. Please make 100% of your donation to Vallejo VFW Chapter 1123. I do not need any more money to run my campaign.

My website is:

I have a digital picture of post 1519, Grand River Detroit Michigan. It is quite old and is of the WWI veterans.  My Uncle Chris Schaffer was a cook in the Navy in WWI and a proud member of the VFW.  We used to travel around Michigan in his Green Hudson Hornet and visit VFW halls.  Great memories for me.  I am a Vietnam Veteran and flew helicopters in I corp.

Welcome Alleycat8. The Grandriver Post 1519 still exists, however, they no longer have a Post Home. They now meet at a K of C hall in Livonia, MI. I am the District Jr. Vice Commander for their District and I was just at their meeting last month.
