This just goes to prove that there is convenience in Direct Dues, most Comrades and Members highly appreciate direct contact from their Post as in days gone by. With the direct contact, there is value added in.

Is there any policy of no admittance to meetings until these members are paid up to current status? Does sound like a face-to-face meeting in confidence is the best way to single out if the member is just irritated with the Post operations or current leadership. One can hardly complain about anything without participation.

As the By Laws state, they are not Members in Good Standings after January 1 if they do not pay their dues. They cannot go to meetings, enter your club (if not open to the public) . Section 105

That makes sense to me. I have lots of reading to catch up on and try to digest. As a new member at my Post, it will be interesting to see the inner workings behind closed doors.

RW11533, attend other Post Meetings, District Meetings, and your Department Meetings. The more exposure you have, the faster you will learn the inner workings.

RW11533,

Chris is absolutely right - attend as many functions as you can in order to get up to speed regarding how the organization works. Another recommendation I would offer is to get set up on the VFW National Site (I believe some people call it the OMS). There are many resources available to members once your account has been set up.

As for a face-to-face, I've been at every meeting since June 2009 and I've never seen or heard of these members until I took over as SVC. If they have a complaint about the leadership it would truly amaze me as they have no idea who's leading their post at this time due to their lack of participation.

With every phone call I've received, I have at least attempted to pass along meeting times to my comrades in hopes that they will attend. Whether they do or not ultimately rides on their shoulders I suppose.
