Go to their Post Meeting, Membership Card in hand, Proof of eligibility in hand. See the Commander and Quartermaster before the Meeting and they will do the rest.
The Post must vote on your acceptance just like being a new Member (per the By Laws).
The Post goes have the right to defer voting to investigate your status, this would include contacting your Post to see if there is any situation there with you.

Greetings everyone only second post here on an ancient thread but it's the pertinent one that came up for post transfers.
I was told when attempting to transfer to another local post that my post QM had to fill out a form (?) and then attend their next meeting of course with ID card.
One problem I see with Chris' advice above is them contacting your old post when the reason for the transfer is you don't like it or the people there and they don't like you. Would I trust these people to give an unbiased referral when they'll be pissed you're transferring, and frankly their reputation itself is in the gutter? The old post will assume you will badmouth them so it's reasonable to assume they will return the favor. I really just want a fresh start without bringing any baggage which the new post doesn't need either.

Does anyone know how to become at-large first?
