The record of compensation for officers, directors and key employees of
VFW National is available in their (VFW Nat'l) Form 990.

Following is a listing of the top three Chair Officers’ salaries :

             Commander-in-Chief                   $195,000
                Sr. Vice Commander-in-Chief     $165,000
                Jr. Vice Commander-in-Chief      $125,000

VFW National noted that VFW salaries are congruent with salary practices
in the nonprofit sector and compare favorably to other veterans’ service organizations.

Above does not include the medical benefits, expense accounts, travel, and other perks.

Remember, these officers are working for you!

Just thinkng--
How much of my personal wealth would I be willing to spend to run for a National Office.
A friend of mine spent a lot (thousands) just working up the chairs for State Commander. ???

Sir ,
With all respect it is tie for the national officers as it should be with the C&C
  • that you also have to aid by giving also . The leaders expect things to get done yet every thing has been asked to give more . It should start at the TOP!

You as should the President of the United States have to recognize you lead by example !
Is that what has been told for years yet it has not been acted on ,you have to lead by your example !
I know things cost yet all these men who have lead this organization have taken not given and they need to really lead.
Most of the leaders have other jobs that they get paid by why do we have to pay them too? If they took less and then we as an organization could do more .
                                                          Respectfully
                                                Joseph W Herber  USA [ret]

What about the salaries of Past National Commanders?  Anybody know?  I can only imagine the cost of sending a Past National Commander to every Department's Midwinter's and yearly Convention.
