Well, it's not happening this year.
The Ladies Auxiliary resolution was defeated by a
very slim
margin.

Mugsy,
Some Depts have very active Mens Auxiliaries and some Depts will not allow any Mens Auxiliaries to form. I know that blending the two may happen in the future. I have been thinking lately that in order to help ease the transition that the Ladies Aux change the name of the Junior Girls Unit and instead morph into a Junior Aux Unit. There are very few Junior Girls Units around and very few Sons of the VFW around. And I think part of the issue is actually having enough eligible young ones of either gender to participate. We can barely keep our Jr Girls afloat but dont have enough to form a Sons of the VFW. By allowing boys to join a Junior Aux Unit that program could possibly thrive better and help ease the transition to allowing men into a combined VFW Auxiliary. It might help dispel some of the prejudices.
Just my 2 cents - what are some other thoughts?
Cheerily

I hope we hear some responses on your suggestion.
In South Carolina, we have exactly one Jr Girls Unit, and no Sons units.
It would seem with these ongoing current conflicts there should be a whole new crop of boys and girls who would be eligible!

As far as Girls and Boys Units in the VFW, I would rather see VFWs sponsoring
Boy Scout and Girl Scout Troops.
Scouting teaches more and provided more opportunities than a VFW girls or boys unit can.
Kids consider their time valuable as we do our own.
I am a Past BSA Asst Scoutmaster, GSA Do-Dad, an Eagle Dad and my daughter
attained her Gold in Girl Scouts.
