We seek your input on the following proposed protocols for advertising and sponsorship launch.

Attention VFW WebCOM Network Blogmasters,

Activated VFW WebCOM Networks are to begin Departmental & Post sponsorship/advertising sales and marketing with the following temporary protocols.  These protocols are preliminary to begin receiving input while engaging local advertising markets through posts and departments and will be replaced by a bid process and graphic ads will be added in the near future.

To begin:

At this time there will be no gambling advertising or links.
All sponsorship/advertising must be purchased for a minimum of one week

Sponsorship & Political Advertising Rates:

Post Blog rates begin at $60 per 30 day cycle (text ads only)
Department WebCOM Network rates begin at .10 cents per blog per day for 30 days (text ads only)
             For example:
            Missouri has 270 blogs = $27 per day x 30 days = $810
            North Carolina has 201 blogs= $20.10 per day x 30 days=  $630
            Virginia has 171 blogs= $17.10 per day x 30 days= $527
            Alabama and so on . . .

Department Weekly rates are .15 cents per day per blog

Yearly sponsorship at the top right hand corner of the network is negotiable

One may proceed in fielding for sponsorship/ad buys in your area as follows:

  • 1.  Contact your potential sponsors/advertisers and inform them of preliminary rates and schedules.  Keep a complete record of contact name, phone, email and time of call.

    2.  If your potential sponsor/advertiser is interested in purchasing space on department networks or post sites, let them know that they will be contacted by a representative to promptly walk them through the buy online.

    3.  Refer your contact to adsales@policlicks.com subject:  Sponsor/Ad buy with prospects contact information.  A representative will walk them through the buy online, answer questions, seek input on the process, and acquire department approval.

    4.  You will be contacted once the buy/sponsorship is approved by Department or goes live.

    5.  If there is no paid advertising or sponsorship acquired, default VFW WebCOM advertising will play in the space.

All sponsorships, political advertising or messaging must be preauthorized by relative Department.

Equal and equitable time and space must be available to all respective candidates.

If your potential advertiser is a political candidate or campaign, you must be sure to contact the other candidates in the particular race/issue and offer the same opportunity to purchase space on the Network.  Be sure to contact competing companies and businesses as well...

Departments shall be responsible for accounting and revenue distribution

Post Revenue Share:  50% of Net revenues from activated post sites shall be paid to local posts.  Local post revenues from inactive post blogs shall default to department

Department Revenue Share:  50% of Net revenues from department sales/sponsorship shall be paid to respective Department.

Procuring Cause Share:  If your potential advertiser or sponsor pays for space, you will be awarded 3% of the gross for non-political sponsors and 8% for political advertisers.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please post them here.

Questions To Be Answered:

What determines an "active" post weblog?
How should revenue be distributed from department to post?  On a monthly basis? Minimum amounts accumulated?  Mailed to posts/individuals?  Electronic distribution?  (We are working on a universal electronic distribution at this time)

Consider this sponorship/ad campaign a test to iron out any wrinkles, so we take it on step by step.  Your input is needed and appreciated.  We have enough momentum and participation to begin implementing the advertising and sponsorship model, but of course we are building to the well-oiled machine for en masse participation and automation.  Imagine if all 8500 plus Posts were generating two or five dollars per day.

Let 'er rip.

In regards to civilian government political ads I think the VFW Disclaimer should be mandatory reflecting the VFW remains neutral and does not endorse candidates.

I suppose a general disclaimer like the ones given by TV stations just before paid programming/infomersials begin could work for all be they written or w/sound.

Now on VFW Political ads of members running for VFW Office, i.e., Post Cmdr, District, Detartment and National, Post will have the option to stating on their own site weather or not the post voted to endorse any candidates for what ever offices/position.

Is there to be one standard price for all advertisers or reduced/discount rates for VFW Ads from VFW members or Posts, Districts pertaining to VFW business???

How do the rates you present compare to other e-advertising forums involving veterans??

DD,

A prominent disclaimer will be included where political advertising is displayed.

As to VFW Candidates advertising for VFW Officer races....we would propose a 50% discount on pricing....most interest would probably come from Dept and National VFW candidates.

Most e-advertising rates revolve around impressions and click through models....we are testing the "sponsorship" approach and will see how it plays out. When there are no paying advertisers....advertisment approved by Dept. that supports the VFW will play as default at no cost to the business model.

I will be posting our Advertising Policy for input.

Here is a starting point for an advertising policy....let us know what is missing or how we can make it stronger.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Departments of the Veterans of Foreign Wars
provide equal access opportunities for advertising and sponsorship
through the Departmental VFW WebCOM Networks. Advertising content found on any site in the Networks, unless otherwise noted, is provided for informational and discussion purposes only and does not necessarily represent the views and opinions of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, its Departments or Posts.

With the exception of issues related to Veterans Issues, the editorial position of this site is to take no editorial position.  Our policy is to  maintain neutrality and non-partisanship to create a venue for engagement, for debate, for democracy.

VFW Departments and its affiliates will not be held responsible for the positions of others found hereto.

Advertising Conditions

1.  The Veterans of Foreign Wars Departments are non-partisan organizations and provide political and other advertising to
membership and the public for informational purposes only.

THE
VFW DEPARTMENTS DO NOT
AND WILL NOT ENDORSE POLITICAL PARTIES OR
CANDIDATES.

All advertising is subject to Department VFW WebCOM approval. Rates, conditions
and space units are subject to change without notice. Positioning
requests that are not paid for are not guaranteed. VFW WebCOM may reject
advertisements without liability, for any reason or no reason,
including those that VFW WebCOM deems inappropriate or incompatible with
its standards and those that have been previously acknowledged or
accepted.

VFW WebCOM may place the word “advertisement” or otherwise add or delete
text to or from ads, which, in VFW WebCOM's opinion, resemble editorial matter.
VFW WebCOM does not accept cancellations after the publication closing date.

A commission may be paid to advertising agencies recognized by VFW WebCOM.

2. Payment terms are negotiable. VFW WebCOM may apply payments from
Advertiser or its affiliates to any other debt owed to VFW WebCOM or its
affiliates. Advertiser and its affiliates shall remain liable for all
outstanding sums owed to VFW WebCOM and its affiliates. Advertiser
will be charged interest on all past due payments at the rate of 18
percent per year or the highest legal rate, whichever is lower.
Advertiser, its affiliates and any applicable agency are jointly and
severally liable for all payments to VFW WebCOM and its affiliates.
VFW WebCOM is not bound by any terms or conditions that are unwritten or
that appear on order forms or copy instructions when those terms or
conditions conflict with or alter any provision contained in
VFW WebCOM advertising agreements or its policies.

3. Advertiser and any applicable agency jointly and severally represent
that they are fully authorized and licensed to use, link and publish (i) the
names, portraits and pictures of living and /or dead persons, (ii) all
intellectual, private and proprietary property, and (iii) all
testimonials and other matter contained in any advertisement submitted
by or on behalf of Advertiser, and that the advertisement is not
libelous, an invasion of privacy or otherwise unlawful.

4. As part of the consideration to induce VFW WebCOM to publish
advertisements, Advertiser, any applicable agency and their affiliates
agree to and shall indemnify, defend and hold harmless VFW WebCOM and
its affiliates from and against any and all losses, damages (including
consequential, incidental special and punitive damages), liabilities,
costs, fees and expenses (including court, collection and legal fees
and expenses) incurred, arising out of the or related to (i) the
content and publication of the advertisements, and (ii) the failure of
any contest related to the advertisements to comply and conform to all
applicable laws, ordinances, statues and rules.

5. VFW WebCOM aggregate liability to Advertiser and any third parties for
any and all reasons shall not exceed the amount paid by Advertiser to
VFW WebCOM for the applicable advertisement. VFW Departments shall have no
liability in all cases resulting from events that are beyond its
reasonable control. In no event shall VFW WebCOM be liable to Advertiser
or any other party for consequential, incidental, special or punitive
damages. VFW WebCOM is not liable for errors in pub set reader service
numbers, booth lines or ad indexes.

6.  VFW WebCOM reserves the right to change any part of its policies without
notice.  Advertisers must comply with the terms and
conditions of the VFW WebCOM Network Policies.

Besides the content of the advertiser who is selling something, I am concerned about any links they may have that will direct people to things or other sites involving or including things Anti/Un-American, racist, porn, illegal drugs, etc.
Morals and values must be maintained even though something unacceptable will bring in revenue.

I have faith in The Shu and you developing and installing checks and balances to protect the name of the VFW.   Cool

We appreciate the "faith" and it is well placed in that we have placed the checks and balances as to what advertising plays through the Networks totally in your organizations hands....the participating Depts have final approval on all advertising that moves.
