Hi Everyone,
I just registered and wanted to comment and get some answers to some questions about the rules.
1st the VFW does stand for Veterans of Forgien Wars correct?
2nd (on the basis question 1 is true) then the Veterans are of U.S. military service?
3rd (believing that one and two are correct) Do the vets here tell war stories?
4th (I guessing that 3 is positive) How can you have rules about misleading or outright false statements?
I always thought the difference between a fairytale and a war story was the ending. One ends, "And they lived happily ever after." The other, "And that ain't no #$@^!" Both are always works of fiction although one may be based upon some violent historical event in a far away land and may have some real life facts just to peak the interest.

To answer your questions.
#1 Yes, VFW stands for Veterans of Foreign Wars
#2 Yes, the Veterans are of US Military service
#3 No, the veterans here do not tell war stories, at least they haven't so far but there are no rules against it.
#4 There are no rules about misleading or false statements regarding 'war stories'
You didn't ask but you do not have to be a member of the VFW or even a veteran to join our ongoing discussions at this forum, all that is required is that everyone is treated with courtesy and respect.
The members that have been posting here are not here to tell 'war stories' but to ask questions and learn about the workings of the VFW. Forums are for discussing ideas and post problems not telling 'war stories'. But if you prefer tell us a few. We'll be glad to read them.

I remember fairy tales beginning with "Once Upon a Time" and "When I am elected..."
Wishing all a great day

I don't know, maybe we need to start some rules. It seems that some people don't know how to get along.

We are going to get along and be civil. We are going to respect each others points of view and not fall into the trap of calling names.

I hope so. I would hate to see people starting to get banned because they can't be civil towards each other.

I guess if the experiences and resulting opinions expressed here become verbally aggressive then the forum would have to change its name from VFW WebCOM to VFVW Webcom (Veterans Fighting Verbal Wars.) I think that probably would not be the best incentive for others to join.

Comrades,
Just joined the forum today. I for one hope not to see too many war stories here. I hear enough of them at the Post (and usually the same old stoies). I'm here to learn, to get other opions, and ideas.
Regards,
Sea Dog

That is the purpose of the forums, plus the exchange of ideas.

I think that we need to put this out to everybody again. Name calling, bullying, disrespect and the such will not be permitted. If anyone feels that they are being picked on or being disrespected please let one of the administrators know.

Here is another rule:
When you post a news article please post the link to where you found it at the bottom of your post. If you do not do this your posting will be deleted. We need to give the proper credit to the news site that you copied it from. Also if it says at the end of the article to not reproduce it or copy it please don't.
