Glad you stopped by.  Take a few minutes and register so you can post and share your thoughts with us.  This "Forum" is unlike others you may have visited in as much as we are going to treat each other with courtesy and respect.  No Name Calling or threatening remarks will be used.  This is a "Forum" to answer questions about the VFW and how it works. There are several different subject boards, and if you have a question about almost anything concerning veterans, the VFW, joining the VFW or the Department or Post WebLogs  you will quickly get an answer.  Registering is the first step towards joining our "Online Community".  Please take a few minutes to do so.
One thing that some of us have started doing is putting our Post number behind our name when we register so that we can identify each other while still maintaining an aura of anonymity.  Thank you.

Smiley  Welcome to our little chat-fest, BlackDog.  I'm curious about the symbolism of your avatar.  Most of our forum members are veterans who are affiliated with the VFW; we would welcome your membership in our organization as well.

I have been a member since 1982.
In June of 2002 I moved to Vallejo, CA. I tried to change my membership to #1123 but had no luck in ever finding where they meet. I decided to change to Member-At-Large, This didnt work. I treid to change through the web site to no avail. I was referred to James Rowold and he was no help, he seemed like he thought I was applying for new membership, as he wanted me to verify I a ribbon which I had already done in 1982.

Can anyone transfer my membership from Post 3935 to member at large?

I would appreciate. Im not contacting Oxnard or Vallejo. Vallejo still has not posted their meeting place in the local newspapers.
Thanks
Wayne Prather   Life #427429  Ill post the emails from the two individules who ? helped.

Wayne,

Please provide me with the dates of your overseas service and the
campaign medal(s) that you received, and I will transfer you into
Department-at-Large for your state.

Ive been trying to do this and no one wants to do this for some reason.

Pardon me but why is the ability on the web site if you cannot perform it.
I tried to go to the meeting site listed but they no longer meet there.
Transfer me as I do not go to many meetings, and proving my membership,
please look at my number and you know that I am a life member. You can
verify it mush more accurately than they can.

Mr. Prather,

Membership may be transferred to any VFW Post by contacting the
Quartermaster of that Post and proving your eligibility.  The Post
Quartermaster will send to National Headquarters the proper paperwork
needed.

Mr. Prather
I am a QM in Mo and I can assist you in transferring you into my post but that is not what you want.  I thought I would hold off answering you and giving someone from Ca a chance to answer.  I really do not know how you can transfer to Member at Large.  I read a rumor that National is trying to do away with the Member at Large option and handing their Members at Large to the different Departments.  You might try calling the Dept of CA VFW and see if they will transfer you to MaL of the Dept of Ca.  If all else fails I will gladly accept your membership. Post 3770 has members in several states.  I wish you luck in getting your concerns taken care of.
