Can one access "Twitter" from a PC or laptop? And if so give us some directions, some of us are a little "slow" (esp me).

Me too! Hadn't thought I was slow.
Had overheard confidential highly secret report that I was either 'ODD' or "PECULIAR."
Low is new. I am all of a twitter as only an elderly twit can be.
Fresh Kool-aid is nifty.

Joe,

You can access Twitter from pretty much anywhere...PC, laptop, cell phone, etc.  It is a free service that you can use to "follow" a person or a business.   Think of it this way, just like in a chat room, you talk in short bursts...usually one or two sentences...that get your point across.  Twitter allows you to do the same thing only on a much broader scale.  Twitter has an estimated 5-6 million users right now...a huge social network.

Here's the Wikipedia definition:
Quote
Twitter is a social networking and micro-blogging service that allows its users to send and read other users' updates (known as tweets), which are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length. Updates are displayed on the user's profile page and delivered to other users who have signed up to receive them. Senders can restrict delivery to those in their circle of friends (delivery to everyone being the default). Users can send and receive updates via the Twitter website, SMS, RSS (receive only), or through applications such as Tweetie, Twitterrific, and Feedalizr. The service is free to use over the web, but using SMS may incur phone services provider fees.

There's not much to it.  Sign up for an account and start following.

d.peirce,
Great. But I cannot find you so I can follow.
Shu,
Can you give us some hints as to how to find our fellow VFW members so we can follow?
I looked and cannot figure it out.  I know some have figured it out but I have searched the "Twitter" homepage and just cannot find it.

Joe,

The easiest way is to go to the vfwwebcom page and click on the "followers".  That will give you a list of everyone who is following that feed.  Otherwise, click the "Find People" link at the top of the page and there are several ways to find folks.

Shu,
    Thanks.  I got it now.
For the rest of you when he says go to the vfwwebcom page he means go here: http://twitter.com/vfwwebcom and then click on "followers" and then check the box on the ones you wish to follow. .
It was simple once Shu explained where to go.  I have to agree with d.peirce that Shu is a wizard.

Nah....the wizards are the people that think this stuff up.  I'm just applying what's already out there to suit everyone's purposes.

But I do like the title of Wizard though...don't make me get medieval.  Grin

Shu,
Great song.  LOL.  I found a humorous video on You tube about Twitter.  I posted it to my personal blog at :http://www.musecrafters.com/kelleysdairy/5425/%26quot%3BTwittering%26quot%3B.html

Thanks for the Video Comrade Zap.

I understand I am lost in the Hinterlads of OZ. So remote, even the Wizard can't find me.

I also realize, and you should note, "Old twits can't tweet."

So, if your looking for me! I am Desron100 which is a play on words.

I am NOT 100. My Mom NEVER heard of a Ron. My Dad thought, in his dotage, it was ME that was desperate.

The mail lady knows better. Who else would buy packages from Amazon too big to fit in the mailbox?
