Serving those who Served....

Email
« on: September 11, 2008, 02:21:00 PM »

We have been wanting to add a stand alone poll section to the Forum almost from its inception. There is a Poll feature built into the Forum software the only draw back to larger implementation has been it's limitation to registered members to respond.

Wellllll.....The Shu finally worked out a way for us to have  poll questions (Bravo! Applause!) in the Forum in a way that does not require one to have to be a registered member in order to vote (but you will still have to register or login to join the discussions).

That's the good news....the tough news is that only Admins can create the Polls at this time...but that's ok ....'cause we are here to serve Smiley.

So for now please Post your Poll Question suggestions here in this thread and we will try to Post them as we can.

Thank you and as always we look forward to your thoughts and input.

Ross,  There seems to be alot of discussion about older members, maybe even acient according to some.  It would be interesting to get an idea of the age range of members, at least those 17 or so that respond.  It would give us all an idea of the age distribution of those responding. Say 30 & under 31 to 40 and so on to 80 and above.

God Bless

Here is my poll questions. This is based on my discussion with many veterans and active members.

Will the New President support our armed forces or draw them down?

My Poll question is, I think, appropriate to the concept that draws us all here.

How many are interested in the comments of veterans who are between 64 and 85?

How many are interested in the comments of veterans who are between 43 and 63?

How many are interested in the comments of veterans who are between 18 and 42?

There have been many comments. Some will never comment. They might vote.
I have read the comments with interest. However we are closing in on our 2,000th member.

I apologize to those over 85 as it Depends on what might interest them.
Younger guys really should not offer comments.

American troops have been in Afghanistan a year and a half longer than in Iraq. The Taliban government has been removed but Afghanistan peace remains elusive. Alexander the Great, Queen Victoria, and Brezhnev were frustrated in subduing the quarrelsome Afghan tribes. NATO has a similar experience.
The new president has ordered three brigades of combat troops plus support troops, 17,000 soldiers and Marines, to reinforce the 30,000 already in Afghanistan, while he considers goals and an exit strategy. What should he do?
  • Send more troops.
  • Keep the same number for now.
  • Declare victory and bring them all home.

Anyone can start a poll and make it work by clicking on the "Start New Poll" button just to the right of where the "New Topic" button is located. It will walk one through it step by step.

Jimmy,
You are correct in the way the Ross posted the entry.  I thought at the time that it might lead to a little confusion.  It seems to imply that he will post the poll.
I see you were successful in making the poll.

Do You believe a Cold War Medal should be issued this year?
Do you believe Congress should designate May 1 Cold War Veterans Recognition Day

This bill is in the Senate  for a Cold War Service Medal http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=s111-2743 and there is one in the house H.R. 4051.

You will find other bills if you google from years past that failed.  With the costs of the ongoing conflicts buying medals for something long over I don’t believe is going to get much support.
