There is something that has not been brought out yet. Is this canteen another IRC 507 (social club) home association in Pennsylvania or some other state where anyone can join? I ask because it sounds like it is. "Anyone can get what they call a social membership. For me, a LifeTime Member, you're social membership is considered a privelage at no cost to you, under the VFW manuals rights of members."
I really have no clue what a IRC 507 is, so I can not comment on this.
In my 41 years of service to veterans I have never heard of a "VFW manuals rights of members" except for when I lived in PA many, many eons ago.
I believe I should of added a comma. What I meant to say, is "The VFW MOP and By-laws", under SEC 110-Rights of members, and SEC 105, Members in Good Standing.
The privilege of patronizing the canteen at a post, joining a pool or horseshoe league, renting of the hall or pavilions, are all privileges given to you, when you join or transfer to a VFW post.
These privileges are given to VFW members, and not social members. Social members must pay yearly dues for this privilege.
Under SEC 907- Penalties, (3), Suspension of certain rights and privileges of membership for a specified period of time.
As a Member in Good Standing, No-one can take away certain rights and privileges, without due process.
If so, it is nothing different than Archie Bunker going down to Kelsey's for a beer and calling his son-in-law a Commie, pinko faggot meathead. Why would the VFW District or State care what goes on in a home association?
Not an apple to apple comparison. Read the thread I started on Fiduciary Responsibilities.
An executive officer for the VFW, at any level, is required to act upon the best interest of the organization, and must maintain a high level of professionalism.
It is unbecoming of an officer, to lie and knowingly spread false rumors about another member in good standing.
If Archie was a social member, and Jughead was a social member, then I agree with you.
But this vendetta was against a LifeTime member, who hasn't been around for a long time.
