"Timothy Linn: Haha XXXXXX uranium...you guys ever see a tcn flip his truck in a wadi? haha." I wonder why such language is allowed to stay and NOT removed from the VFW FACEBOOK page, especially when such language is not in keeping with VFW principles nor appropriate in a VFW post home. Freedom of speech has consequences.

I edited the above posting for the reasons stated by the writer. As an Administrator, I will edit Posts on this forum for such language.
On the VFW Facebook Page, I do not know who maintains it.
The VFW Department of Missouri Facebook Page Administrator will not tolerate this conduct.

Chris Weber:  I'll never comment on here again about anything. I didn't know Missouri controlled this site. You need to find out who controls the postings at National! I have communicated with National Commander DeNoyer and he agrees that obscene language is inappropriate.

National does not control this site. Missouri does not control this site. I have been given Administrator Privileges by the main host of this system. Under this authority, I took action. My options included deleting your Post. I chose not to.

The VFW Department of Missouri Facebook Page Administrator will not tolerate this conduct. Missouri is prominately mentioned. Specifically, who is exactly the main host of the system?

IMHO, It comes down to what is appropriate.
Profanity is free speech, as well as racist slurs, but it is still not appropriate, nor professional.
I find profanity is not needed when a large vocabulary is available.
Morals and values of many have disappeared.

I agree wholeheartedly, just can't understand why it is permitted on FACEBOOK'S Veterans of Foreign Wars VFW page, that's all. Free speech has consequences.

John La Rochelle,
Please provide a link to the facebook page you are referring to.  I control one Missouri VFW fanpage and Chris Weber is admin of a VFW Missouri facebook group.  But that does not mean there are not others.  There is a VFW group out there that allows some things that shouldn't be.  I have reported it to National but they have no control over it.
Please do not refrain from posting here.  We encourage anyone with anything to say to post here esp concerning VFW or veteran issues and your post here was very appropriate.   We do discourage raw language as this site is open to women and children.  I didn't read your original before Weber edited it so I can't judge.

I'm not really computer savvy, but I believe this is the link, as that is the line at the top of the my screen when logged into FACEBOOK:        http://www.facebook.com/?sk=welcome#!/VFWFans
If it doesn't work, log into FACEBOOK and type VFW in the seach box, and the site will come up. Scroll down to the story the post is in (May take sometime). I only posted a comment by Timothy Linn that included the f-nonword as an example of the language that is sometimes posted. This VFW FACEBOOK page is open to more women an children than this controlled page will ever be. I'm just discouraged that it seems I'm never right. Guess I should have never lived to age of 65.

John La Rochelle,
I looked at the facebook page your link took me too.  It appears to be the Official National VFW fanpage.  I didnt find the story but I too am surprised that they would allow that type language to stand.  It may be that they just dont monitor close enough.
Dont be discouraged and in another 4 & 1/2 years I will too be 65.  We all just stumble along and try to do what we perceive to be is "right".
We welcome you and your input here at the VFW webcom forums.  I noticed you were at My VFW Networks a few minutes ago and tried to chat to you but I guess you didnt notice. Here is a link to the Dept of Mo facebook fanpage that I maintain. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Veterans-of-Foreign-Wars-VFW-Missouri/120682001311012  I do not like the new timeline as I get lost trying to find what others post in the fanpage.
