Proper Disposal of the American Flag

V.F.W. Post 1716 can assist with the proper disposal of an American Flag if you should own one. There are very specific rules and regulations about displaying and disposing of the American Flag. Our flag is a symbol of freedom and should always be treated with respect, great care and reverence. If a flag has become tattered, worn or faded, it should be disposed of properly rather than just tossed out with the trash. VFW Post 1716 will then properly dispose of the flag according to regulations as prescribed by the United States Flag Code. Those who do not reside near the VFW are asked to contact their local Boy Scout Council to find a troop that accepts flags for disposal.
