The VFW WebCOM Network has assembled a collection of videos made available on the Internet by supporters of veterans, active military and their families. From November 1st thru Veterans Day, November 11th, VFW WebCOM will bring you this series of videos. We hope you enjoy the videos and, as always, we thank you for your service.
National recording artist Jack Kapanka writes on one of his websites:
My father served in the Navy
My Grandfather served in the Army
I was born blind in both eyes I got sight in my right eye at the age of two
I've been fortunate to travel around the World.
I know how fortunate we are to live in this country.
In 1990, I was working a midnight shift job in Pennsylvania. My forman walked in with a POW/MIA t-shirt on. The profile on that shirt looked a lot like me. At that moment, I realized how many people have fought and died for my freedom. I wrote the third verse to the song that night. It took me a few years to finish the rest. I was honored to perform What They Gave To Me as the half-time show for the 2002 Capitol One Citrus Bowl. I hope you'll share this song with those you know who protect our freedom. God Bless America!
This song is my way of saying Thank You for
What They Gave To Me
