Village Board Gives Veterans Property Tax Exemptions

SARANAC LAKE -- On the same night as a public hearing that lasted about 30 minutes, the village board voted to adopt a new law that will give veterans significantly higher property tax exemptions.

The law, which won't go into effect until 2008, will allow eligible veterans to lower their property tax assessments.

The new maximum exemption levels are $18,000 for war veterans, $12,000 for combat veterans and $60,000 for disabled veterans. >Read More
