March Update, Sunday Feb 24th.

by BlogMasters

We are counting down the last few days of preparation for the Resolve to Win March.  I will be leaving the Orlando area on Thursday morning and the Core Group will be rallying at Dillon, SC on the 29th of Feb.

I would like to ask all of you who represent organizations which will be supporting and participating in the Resolve to Win March to consider making a “Battle Streamer” to hang on the RTW Guidon. I have attached a photo of myself holding the Guidon. It would be nice to finish this March with 50 or 60 Battle Streamers hanging from the Guidon to show the broad range of support which we hope to receive. At the bottom of this email is an extract from the website which describes the “Battle Streamer” specs.

Please take note that our website now has a mirror site capable of handling blogs and video uploads. Please follow all the latest news of the Resolve to Win March at our blog hosted by Departments VFW WebCOM Network:  http://vfwwebcom.org/ResolveToWin/.   While there please consider grabbing and hosting the Veterans News Bureau and/or VFW WebCOM Network video widget for your site.  Thank you, Ross.

We are beginning to get media coverage. I will be on the “Morning Show” Monday between 0800 – 1000hrs at Fox, Orlando. I believe they will also be doing a follow up, in the field, before we leave here. Dean Strong and Bob Sussan will be doing some live radio interviews starting this Friday and the Fayetteville newspaper is planning a story later this week.  It is imperative that you all put “your face” to this March with your local media, to show our solidarity.

Ross is putting together some fund raiser / donation ideas. We have fallen short of our goal for fundraising to keep 8 to 10 people on the road for almost 3 weeks. Please keep an eye on the website and consider making a contribution.

Campaign Colors:
A campaign guidon will travel the distance of the march representing the ‘Campaign Colors”. The guidon is a standard 20” x 27 ¾”, blue in color with gold fringe, the “Great Seal of the United States of America” is centered, surrounded by the words “RESOLVE TO WIN”.

The Campaign Colors will be carried by Core Participants and Regional Participants organizations along the route of march. Organizations which support the “Resolve to Win” March by providing Regional Participants will have an opportunity at the beginning and end of each day to add a their Battle Streamer to the Campaign Colors. Organizational Battle Streamers provided by Regional Participants should conform to the following specifications: size is to be 1 3/8” wide and 24” long, color and trim determined by participant, text on the streamer should indicate the organization and Post / Chapter designation of the Regional Participant (example "American Legion - VA Post 320" or "Spotsylvania, VA Post 320").  Streamer should have a grommet or reinforced "button hole" to enable attachment to guidon pole. Streamer should be made of a durable and weather resistant material. (Reference for Guidon Battle Streamers

God Bless you all and
